Day 4- Waco (APS)
After repacking the car at the hotel, we loaded up the Suburban and headed out for Waco! Along the way we did have to make a few stops, however. From the highway, we saw a Luchesse outlet so we had to stop and see if there were any good deals. Much to Hall's disappointment, however, he didn't find anything he couldn't live without. Our next stop was right outside of Austin at the new Circuit of the Americas - the only Formula One track in the US. Jack and Hall added a trip for a race to their bucket lists. It was really amazing to see the terrain- you can't tell how hilly it is on tv! They just finished up the X Games events last week so we got to see them breaking down the infrastructure which was certainly a feat. We then drove into Austin to check out UT and enjoy lunch at Torchey's Tacos. Finally we were on our way to Waco!! We arrived at Michelle and Ben Basden's house about 3:30 and were welcomed by Michelle, Ben, their girls Bryce and Brinkley, Nanette, Christi and her kiddos Sidney and Jacob. (For those of you who may not know, Hall spent many happy years growing up in Waco and the Davis and Wheelis clans became like family. They are such fun and have always welcomed me and our kiddos with open arms as well!). It didn't take long before all of the kids were ready to try out the new slide on the dock. Jack also showed his kayaking prowess and gave the girls rides around the lake! During this time, Todd, David, JP, Elinor, Jeeter and Claudette arrived as did Uncle Dan's BBQ! Dinner was delicious and certainly enjoyed by all. It was a great night catching up on everyone's lives and watching ALL of the children playing and getting along so well. Michelle and Ben, thank you so much for all of your hospitality and for putting up with our Sumner invasion! Thanks to Nanette, David, Christi, Todd, JP, Elinor, Jeeter and Claudette for the warm Texas greeting and for making the time to come visit and make our evening so special!
